Other Comments / Explanations:

J Londregan explained to the Stewards that due to a  mechanical break down he was unable to arrive in time to ride in race 1.

Race 1 – Great Australia Ice Creamery Maiden Handicap - 1200 metres:

Delta Dane was slow to begin.

Just Plain Cougar had a tendency to lay out rounding the home turn.

H Bacon, rider of Secret Journey, was reprimanded under the provisions of AR.137A(5)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides, in a forehand manner, prior to the 100m. Stewards took into account that this was H Bacon’s first offence under this rule.

G Brunsdon, rider of Valley Forge, was fined the sum of $50 under the provisions of AR.137A(5)(a)(ii) in that he used his whip in a forehand manner on 10 occasions, prior to the 100m. Stewards took into account that G Brunsdon had previously been spoken to regarding this rule.

A post race veterinary certificate of Sudden Bliss, failed to reveal any abnormality.

Race 2 – Reddrops Foodworks Trophy 2 Handicap – 1200 metres:

Fenaughty Lad (P Kelly) was slow to begin and lost ground.

Olyball raced wide throughout.

P Kelly, rider of Fenaughty Lad, was reprimanded under the provisions of AR.137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his on 6 occasions, in a forehand manner, prior to the 100m. Stewards took into account that this was P Kelly’s first offence under this rule.

Approaching the 200m Ish knuckled when shifting out

Race 3 – Country Club Hotel Open Trophy - 1200 metres:

Approaching the 200m Craig Kirkpatrick, rider of 3 placegetter Stratton Place, accidently dropped his whip.

Near the 800m Super Shag had to be eased when racing tightly to the inside of Desert Plume, when that gelding was taken in slightly by Work The Body.

C Kirkpatrick (Stratton Place) was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the finishing line. Stewards did not believe that this affected the placings.

S Stoll, rider of Desert Plume, was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR.137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 11 occasions, in a forehand manner, prior to the 100m. Stewards took into account that this was S Stoll’s first ride this season and first offence under this rule.

During the running of this race Stratton Place lost it’s near-fore hoof pad.

Race 4 – Yea Pharmacy Trophy 3 Handicap - 1600 metres:

Prior to the declaration of correct weight Ms Shiralee Waddell, rider of 3 placegetter Overindulge, viewed the Steward’s patrol film before deciding not to lodge a protest.

Race 5 – Charman Partners 2009 Yea Cup - 2100 metres:

Stewards gave permission for Ray Douglas, rider of Promotion, to ride 1kg over the horse’s handicapped weight.

Go Shigemi, trainer of Mr Roppongi, was questioned regarding the instructions given to rider Patrick Kelly prior to the race. G Shigemi stated to the Stewards that Mr Roppongi is one-paced and the instructions were to ride the gelding in a forward position and if possible to lead. G Shigemi further explained that he was happy with P Kelly’s ride today. Steward’s noted G Shigemi’s comments.

Race 6 – White Family Inverugie Pastoral Maiden Handicap - 1600 metres:

Kimondo was slow to begin.

Diaddison got it’s head up when being restrained in the early stages.
