When questioned regarding Jet Torque getting out of it’s ground Michael Schrapel, rider of Jet Torque, stated to the stewards that although it was his intention to race at the rear of the field, after shying at horses to his inside shortly after the start and losing ground, his mount settled soon after at which point he was reluctant to push the gelding forward considering it was only the early stages of the race. Stewards noted M Schrapel’s explanation.
Passing the 100m Jet Torque (M Schrapel) shifted in, when laying in, when not sufficiently clear of True Vision, taking that gelding in onto Champion Chestnut. M Schrapel was severely reprimanded and advised that he would be expected to stop riding and straighten his mount sooner than he did on this occasion, in future.
M Scrapel was reprimanded under the provisions of AR.137A.(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip on 7 occasions in a forehand manner, prior to the 100m, which is 2 more than permissible.
