Race 1 – woolamai open trophy race - 2000 metres: 

Cowdrey was slow to begin (3L). 

Irish Gun knuckled on jumping away.

Anthony Boyd rider of Cowdrey explained that near the 1400m, he elected to give ground and shift to the outside of Order Of Victory to obtain clear running.  He further explained that as the early pace was slow he wanted to allow his mount to stride forward around the field however Cowdrey did not quicken as he expected.

Approaching the finish line Brief Eruption was tightened for room between Irish Gun which shifted out slightly and Cowdrey which shifted in slightly.

Race 2 – island beau trophy race (1) - 1000 metres: 

Snippets Wings which had been fractious in its barrier stall jumped away awkwardly, resulting in the gelding’s rider Craig Kirkpatrick becoming unbalanced.  As a result Snippets Wings lost considerable ground (5L).

Race 3 – Brian Bren – heat 3 vba/crv picnic racing sprinters series - 1000 metres: 

Kadena Lane was obliged to race wide in the early and middle stages.

Near the 100m, Jacob Londregan rider of Kadena Lane accidentally dropped his whip.

Race 4 – van steensel timbers maiden handicap - 1500 metres:  Watch Me Explode was difficult to load.  Watch Me Explode then knuckled badly on jumping away and lost ground.  Dean Bailey trainer of Watch Me Explode was notified that the gelding was now suspended from racing until such time as he, trials to the satisfaction of the stewards.

On jumping away Isle Of Elba was hampered when tightened for room between Rokoroo and Cougar Son which shifted in.

Approaching the 1400m Monde Miss had to be eased when tightened for room by Rokoroo which shifted in slightly.  As a consequence Another Frothy which was following and racing ungenerously had to be eased to avoid the heels of Monde Miss.

Near the 1400m Isle Of Elba commenced to race ungenerously when being eased to avoid the heels of Rokoroo which shifted in.

Approaching the 1300m Isle Of Elba which continued to race ungenerously was then tightened for room between Monde Miss and Cougar Son which shifted in and away from Alexandrite.  As no one rider could be held accountable for the interference the stewards notified all riders to exercise far greater care when in similar circumstances in future.

Near the 1200m Watch Me Explode had to be eased to avoid the heels of Emmenaitch which shifted out slightly. Watch Me Explode then raced ungenerously for the remainder of the race.

Tyson Buck rider of Please Act pleaded guilty to a charge of careless riding under the provisions of AR.137a, the careless riding being that near the 400m he permitted his mount to shift out when not sufficiently clear of Emmenaitch resulting in that mare being taken out onto Isle Of Elba, as a consequence Isle Of Elba was bumped by Emmenaitch became unbalanced and lost considerable ground whilst Emmenaitch was also severely hampered.  Tyson Buck had his licence to ride in races suspended for a period to commence at midnight 10 January 2010 and to expire midnight 29 January 2010, a period of three picnic race meetings.  In assessing penalty stewards took into account Tyson Buck’s excellent race riding record and the degree of interference.

A post race veterinary examination of Watch Me Explode revealed no obvious abnormalities.

A post race veterinary examination of Emmenaitch revealed the mare to be lame in the near fore leg.  Rebecca Waymouth trainer of the mare was advised that a veterinary certificate of fitness for Emmenaitch would be required prior to the mare being permitted to race again.

Race 5 – san remo hotel open trophy race - 1500 metres:  Black Eyed Knight (nz) who was having his first start since 17 December 2008 at Strathalbyn underwent a veterinary examination upon arrival at the course, and was passed fit to start.

Volta De Pe jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and brushed Champion Chestnut.

After passing the 500m Little Storm had to be eased when tightened for room between Toomah Boy and Petite Gold which shifted in slightly.

Race 6 – woolamai committee trophy race (1) - 1700 metres:  Diaddison hung out during the early and middle stages of the race.   Near the 600m the saddle on Diaddison slipped to the near side placing Jacob Londregan the gelding’s rider at a disadvantage for the remainder of the race.  Approaching the winning post Jacob Londregan lost the use of both his irons.

Furbin was obliged to race wide without cover in the early and middle stages, before being allowed to stride forward and race outside the leader near the 600m.

A post race veterinary examination of Gottagetaboost revealed that the gelding had twisted a plate however no further abnormalities were detected.
