Race 1 – crt rodwells maiden handicap - 1200 metres:  Mr T. Bell trainer of Victory Stripes presented the mare in the mounting enclosure without blinkers which is part of its approved racing gear.  Stewards acceded to Mr T. Bell request to remove the blinkers as the mare had not raced since 2008 and was having its first start for him.

Race 2 – Williams hunt trophy race(3) - 1200 metres:  Prior to correct C. Kirkpatrick rider of Bustling (5 placegetter) viewed the Stewards patrol film and photo finish in a view to lodge an objection . C Kirkpatrick did not wish to proceed with the objection and agreed with the judge’s decision. Correct weight was subsequently declared.

Bustling was slow to begin.

Near the 1000 metres Better Than One shifted in and brushed the running rail.

Just prior to straightening Storm Seas, which was hanging out and weakening, had to be checked off the heels of Sparkling Seven, which shifted in.  G. Brunsdon rider of Sparking Seven was severely reprimanded for allowing his mount to shift in and advised he must exercise far greater care in future.

Passing the 200 metres Princess A Glow had a tendency to lay in.

Race 3 – commercial hotel maiden handicap - 1750 metres:  Trainer Ms K. Adcock advised the Stewards after the running of race 1 that it was her intentions to have Looming Light ridden more forward today and an announcement was made immediately. Looming Light was ridden accordingly.

Secret Journey jumped awkwardly then shifted out bumping Looming Light which was hampered as a consequence.

Looming Light had a tendency to hang out in the early and middle stages.

When questioned regarding the poor performance of Fraar Too Bold, A. Bodey stated that the mare was under pressure from the 600 metres.  He further added that he believed the mare had jarred up on today’s track condition.  A post race veterinary examination of Fraar Too Bold, which performed below market expectation, revealed the mare to be lame in the off-fore foreleg.  Mr T. Bell trainer of the mare was advised that he must obtain a veterinary certificate prior to the mare racing again.

Race 4 – equine sports excellence trophy race(1) - 1750 metres:  P Kelly rider of Fenaughty Lad reported on returning to scale that the gelding pulled hard in the early stages resulting in his saddle shifting forward approaching the winning post on the first occasion.  Fenaughtly Lad was then allowed to stride forward near the 1000 metres and obtain the lead.

Race 5 – mansfeild hotel high country open trophy race - 1750 metres:  Casual Request jumped awkwardly.

Storm Flyer dipped near the 150 metres.

Race 6 – Mansfield chainsaw & mower heat 1 vba/crv picnic sprinters series - 1100 metres:  Mr T. Bell trainer of Never No More stated that the mare had swelling to the near fore leg and therefore unfit to race, Stewards authorised the late withdrawal of Never No More at 8.00am.  Mr T. Bell will provide a veterinary certificate for Never No More to the Stewards.

Mr R. Plant trainer of Youandi approached the Stewards, after race 1, and made a request to remove the blinkers from the gelding which was having its first start for him.  Stewards acceded to Mr R. Plant’s request.

C. Kirkpatrick rider of Youandi stated that the gelding hung out for the majority of the event and was reluctant to race truly over the concluding stages.

C. Kirkpatrick rider of Youandi was reminded of his obligation in regard to AR.137A(4)(b) for raising his arm above shoulder height.

R. Kirkpatrick rider of Illegal Entry was reminded of his obligation in regarding excessive use of the whip.
