Other Comments / Explanations:

Today Stewards conducted an inspection of all rider’s bags and gear. Prior to doing this riders Adam Bodey, Jacob Londregan and Ben Wade admitted to Stewards that they were in possession of mobile phones which under AR.160B.(3) is prohibited. After taking into consideration their voluntary admissions and that these riders hadn’t been spoken to in regards to this rule before, A Bodey, J Londregan and B Wade were each severely reprimanded.

The inspections of the all riders bags and equipment failed to reveal further breaches.

Race 1 – PT Hydraulics Maiden Handicap - 1650 metres:

The start of this race was delayed as Diaddison was reluctant to procede to the barriers until rider Jacob Londregan  dismounted. As Diaddison has a history of temperance in this area, Stewards notified Ms K McAdam, trainer of the gelding, that Diaddison would now be suspended from racing until it performs to Steward’s satisfaction in an organised trial, under race day conditions, with emphasis on it’s manners enroute to the barriers.

Ponter was reluctant to jump when the gates opened and lost considerable ground from the remainder of the field.. After viewing the patrol film of the race and interviewing trainer Mr. B Akers, who stated to the Stewards that his instructions to rider Michael Schrapel were to come out quietly with the view of taking a position at the rear of the field, Stewards believed that Ponter was reluctant to jump advised B Akers that a warning would be placed on Ponter and that if the gelding performed similarly in the future, further action may be taken.

Race 2 – Breen Printing Trophy 3 Handicap - 1650 metres:

Correct weight was delayed to allow the rider of 3 placegetter Trafalger Bay, Robert Anderson, to view the official photo finish. R Anderson agreed with the Judge’s placings and correct weight was declared.

On jumping away Will D’or and Forge shifted ground and came together.

Trafalgar Bay began awkwardly.

Adam Bodey, rider of Forge, was severely reprimanded under the provisions of AR.137A(5)(a)(ii) for using his whip in a forehand manner prior to the 100m on 7 occasions, which is 2 more than permitted under this Rule. Stewards took into account that A Bodey had been reprimanded under this rule before.

Race 3 – Densal Open Trophy Handicap - 1650 metres:

Ms. Shiralee Waddell was reprimanded under the provisions or AR.137A(5)(a)(ii) for using her whip in a forehand manner prior to the 100m on 8 occasions, which is 3 more than permitted under this rule. Stewards took into account the Ms. Waddell had not been spoken to before regarding this rule.

Race 4 – Eastern Tree Service Trophy 1 Handicap - 1200 metres

No report.

Race 5 – The Habittude Open Trophy Handicap - 1200 metres:

Prior to the declaration of correct weight the rider of the 2 placegetter Petite Gold, Leigh Taylor, viewed the photo finish. After viewing the photo L Taylor was satisfied with the Judge’s placings.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight the rider of 3 placegetter Gunnagetit, Kane Harris, lodged a protest against 2 placegetter Petite Gold (Leigh Taylor) alleging interference from the 1200m to the entrance to the straight. After taking evidence it was established that shortly after the start Petite Gold shifted in and tightened the running of Gunnagetit onto Uncle Ed. Near the 600m when attempting to gain clear running to the outside of Prince St Clemens, which was weakening, Gunnagetit shifted out slightly and  bumped Petite Gold, which at this stage held it’s ground. On the evidence before them, Stewards did not believe that the interference between the two horses was worth more than the  1¼ length margin and therefore the protest was dismissed.
At a subsequent inquiry Stewards reprimanded L Taylor for shifting ground near the 1150m causing Gunnagetit to be tightened onto Uncle Ed which was tightened for room and subsequently lost ground.

Race 6 – The Field Group Trophy 2 Handicap - 1000 metres:

After jumping away Pemmtar was tightened for room between Illegal Entry, which shifted out, and Ormond Lass which shifted in.

Illegal Entry raced wide throughout.
