Race 1 – Bill wyndam & co. Pty Ltd - 1000 metres:
Near the 900 metres, Coldstream Hill shifted out and hampered Royal Ruff and Twilight King.
After passing the 500 metres, Royal Ruff had to be checked off the heels of Coldstream Hill (Mr. R. Anderson) which again shifted out. Mr. R. Anderson was severely reprimanded and advised to take far greater care when shifting ground in future.
After passing the winning post, Twilight King lost its footing and slipped. Stewards, accompanied by all riders engaged for the day, inspected this section of the track before deciding to continue with the meeting.
Race 2 - southern cross ten open trophy race - 1000 metres:
Subsequent to the running of the race, stewards downgraded the track to slow 6 a t 2.05 p.m.
Race 3 – buchan station cup - 1700 metres:
Running out of the straight the first time, Uncle Ed shifted out in the going and bumped Joy Street. Mr. A. Boyd, rider of Sang Bleu, could offer no explanation for the horse’s poor performance today other than that the horse was having his first start for 12 months on a rain affected track. A post race veterinary examination of Sang Bleu revealed no abnormalities.
Race 4 – kee fencing & s.a. sproule sawmilling trophy race (3) - 1700 metre:
After passing the 100 metres Irish Village, which was weakening, was tightened for room between Reddy For Kerry (which shifted out slightly) and Shagstar (which shifted in slightly).
Race 5 – buchan caves hotel trophy race (2) - 1200 metres:
Lord Ensay, which had competed in Race 2, was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to race again.
Race 6 – salon classique & john milbourn (chimney sweep) open trophy race –
1200 metres:
Nadobe was slow to begin.
In the straight, Purple Zar had to be eased off the heels of Cape Cod Kid when that horse shifted out slightly.
Mr. P. Koumis, rider of Cape Cod Kid, was advised that in future he should take more care when shifting ground.
