Other Comments / Explanations:

Le Premier, Questrian and Victory Blaze have all raced since acceptances were taken for this meeting.  A public announcement was made to this effect.

Race 1 – DRAFFIN WALKER OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 1050 metres:  As Mr P Higgins trainer of Midnight Tango had failed to scratch the mare by the prescribed time, stewards ordered the withdrawal of Midnight Tango at 12.10pm.  Mr P Higgins was issued with a severe reprimand for failing to scratch the mare and reminded of his obligations under the rules.

After being placed in its barrier stall Mr Martindale broke through the front and cantered a short distance before being restrained by its rider Danielle Daniel.  Mr Martindale was returned to the start, examined by the clubs veterinarian and passed fit to run.

Vixenite and Sensational Goss both jumped the crossing shortly after the start near the 1000m.

Rounding the home turn and until the early part of the straight Here’s Luck was held up for clear running behind Yield Of Ranchez which was weakening.

Race 2 – LISA DALGLEISH RESTRICTED TROPHY RACE (1) hANDICAP - 1200 metres:  The start of this race was delayed slightly to enable Stewards to secure the inside running rail near the 1000m.

Midnight Tango and Allez Jeune commenced awkwardly.

A post race veterinary examination of Dame Melba which was under pressure rounding the home turn revealed no abnormality.

Race 3 – FRESH FEAST MEATS OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 1200 metres:  Correct weight was delayed for Stewards to view the patrol film of the start to ascertain whether or not Class Kid had been denied a fair start.  On the evidence it was established that Class Kid had reared on jumping away and lost considerable ground therefore Class Kid was deemed a runner and correct weight was declared.

Baker Heart raced wide throughout the event.

Race 4 – JIM’S TEST AND TAG BALNARRING CUP - 2000 metres:  Acting on a confirmed telephone call from Ms F Houlahan, co trainer of Manasinga who advised that the gelding was suffering from a virus, Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Manasinga at 9.45am.  Ms F Houlahan will forward a veterinary certificate with respect to Manasinga to Racing Victoria’s Veterinary department.

Dantickle overraced in the early stages.

During the running of the race Dantickle suffered a bleeding attack.  Trainer Gary Cluning was advised that Dantickle was now stood down from racing for the mandatory three month period.

Correct weight was delayed as Leigh Taylor rider of Questrian (2 placegetter) wished to view the official photo finish.  After viewing the official print Leigh Taylor agreed with the judge’s decision and correct weight was declared.

An inquiry was adjourned into John Fitzgerald’s use of the whip on Too Much Sun to a time and date to be fixed.

Race 5 – ROSEBUD RSL MAIDEN HANDICAP - 1600 metres:  Enclosed was slow to begin.  Big Johnnies Gem jumped away awkwardly.

Oh Forain overraced in the early and middle stages and got its head up when being eased to avoid the heels of Monde Miss near the 1100m.

Raymond Douglas rider of Miss Cordy was issued with a severe reprimand under the provisions of AR.137A(5)(a)(i) for using his whip in consecutive strides in a forehand manner.

Race 6 – FRANKSTON TOYOTA TROPHY RACE (1) - 1600 metres:  John Fitzgerald was issued with a severe reprimand for failing to fulfil his mount on Beenadancer due to being overweight.  Debbie Waymouth replaced John Fitzgerald as the rider of Beenadancer.

The start of the race was delayed slightly due to Fraardinia being re-saddled at the start.

Gottagetaboost was slow to begin.

Approaching the 1200m Furbin had to be eased to avoid the heels of Tucker Road

Rounding the home turn Furbin (R Douglas) had to be checked to avoid the heels of Ready For Kerry (D Daniel) which shifted in slightly.  As a consequence Furbin had to shift out across the heels of Ready For Kerry and in doing so hampered Gottagetaboost.  Stewards took no direct action other than to notify both riders to exercise care when in similar circumstances in future.

Leigh Taylor, rider of Valmarina was notified of his obligations under the rules with respect to a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
