Approaching the winning post on the first occasion, Super Shag raced extremely wide to avoid the slower section of the track just after the winning post.

Near the 1000 metres Chief Thunderwing brushed the running rail.

P Kelly rider of Fenaughtly Lad stated that the gelding over raced in the early stages.

C Kirkpatrick rider of Preceptor, which performed poorly, stated that the gelding was reluctant to stretch out in the straight.  A post race veterinary examination revealed that the gelding had jarred up during the race and had swelling to both fore fetlocks.  C Jordan trainer of Preceptor was notified that the results of a scan of both forelegs have to be forwarded onto the RVL Veterinary Department after which a satisfactory veterinary report will be required prior to racing again.

Race 2 – yencken’s alexandra home hardware store open trophy race - 1540 metres:  Wilpena raced wide without cover throughout the event.

A Bodey rider of Mummacass, which performed below market expectation, explained that the mare had a tendency to lay out for the majority of the race.  He further added that the mare did not feel right in her action.  A post race veterinary examination revealed the mare to have an elevated heart rate and a slow recovery rate.

Rounding the home turn, Mummacass, when laying out, shifted out and carried Acres Of Gold wider on the track.

Race 3 – yarck hotel maiden handicap - 1540 metres: Approaching the 1400 metres Peerybingle had to be checked off the heels of Spirit Of Portland (R Kirkpatrick) which shifted in abruptly.  R Kirkpatrick was severely reprimanded and notified he must do his utmost to prevent his mounts shifting ground in future.

Near the 1000 metres Sudden Bliss brushed the running rail.

Peerybingle had a tendency to lay in over the concluding stages.

Race 4 – bet best with the bookies trophy race(2) - 1300 metres:  R Anderson rider of Trafalgar Bay was given permission to ride the gelding 1kg over his declared weight as no other suitable rider was available.
