Race 1 – HEAT 4VBA/CRV PICNIC RACING middle distance series - 2000 metres:  In the early stages of the race Go Zan over-raced.

Approaching the winning post Go Zan was tightened for room between Marscays Image, which shifted in slightly, and Zephr Speed, which shifted out slightly to avoid the heels of Coronation Prince.

Race 2 – wheel-a-waste open tr-ophy race (1) - 1000 metres:   Prince St Clemens was slow to begin.

Ms D. Waymouth, rider of Grand Legend, could offer no explanation for the horse’s poor performance today other than that the horse over-raced in the early stages of the race.

Race 3 – the defendl no get out stakes’ maiden handicap – 1000 metres:  At the start Hard as Ice shifted in and bumped King Shadowfax in onto Electrix.

Rebel Empire jumped away awkwardly.

Near the 700 metres Actinjest had to be eased off the heels of Hard As Ice when that horse shifted out slightly.

Race 4 – the wonthaggi club open trophy race (2) - 1000 metres:  On jumping away, Miss K. Anderson, rider of Split Second, damaged her right riding boot on the starting stalls.

Race 5 – the peter devine memorial open trophy race - 1600 metres:  Deep Rule was slow to begin.

Near the 200 metre mark, Toro (Miss D. Waymouth) brushed the running rail when taking a narrow run on the inside of Tourelle Lad. Miss Waymouth was advised to ensure that there was sufficient galloping room when taking runs in future.

Mr. R. Manning, rider of Warrigal Tom, explained that his mount was a beaten horse at the 1000 metre mark and may have been jaded from his campaign at the high country race meetings.

Race 6 – the wonthaggi workments club trophy race (1) - 1700 metres:  Near the 1500 metre mark Wild Billy was tightened for room between Leica Reason, which shifted out, and Dame Melba, which shifted in.

Race 7 – the hancock beattie memorial trophy race (3) - 1500 metres:  Eye Eye was slow to begin.

Xaareal jumped awkwardly, got its head up and lost ground.

Rounding the home turn Mr. S. McGovern, rider of Rusty Mater, momentarily lost the use of his near side rein.
