Race 1 – Keith mahood memorial trophy (1) Handicap -                                     1000 metres:

Prior to correct weight S. Stoll rider of Hussonetta (4 placegetter), viewed the video of the straight before decided not to proceed with an objection.

When the gates opened Port Phillip reared up and then lost considerable ground.

A. Bodey rider of Seto Sapphire which performed below expectation stated that the gelding raced like a tired horse under his big weight and was a beaten horse in the early part of the straight.

As B. Wade had become indisposed Stewards adjourned an inquiry into Hussonetta being tightened for room and eased near the 100m and Shelledoni being inconvenienced, to a date to be fixed.

After passing the 100m Shelledoni had difficulty in obtaining a clear run.

J. Kilgower trainer of Ivor Strategy (NZ) was reprimanded for adding a girth cover to the gear of the mare when saddling.  B. Wade rider of Ivor Strategy (NZ) was notified that he must ensure he correctly weighs out with all his gear in future or he may be penalised.

Race 2 – woolamai maiden handicap -                                                                                            1450 metres:  Shortly after the start Gamblenon commenced to buck which resulted in B. Wade its rider being dislodged.

J. Kilgower trainer of the mare was notified that Gamblenon must trial to the satisfaction of the Stewards before racing again.

In the middle stages of the race Ainsleigh’s Girl hung out.

Race 3 – Santa claus is coming open trophy race handicap –                     1850 metres:  When the gates opened Tourelle Lad shifted in and hampered Chloe Blue Eyes.

Devine Providence was held up for a run from the 150m to near the winning post.

Chloe Blue Eyes over-raced in the middle stages of the race.

Distraction layed in under pressure in the straight.

Race 4 – wonthaggi citzens band open trophy race handicap -                                2000 metres:   A protest was lodged by D. Walker rider of King Of Dendy (2 placegetter) against Layout being declared the winner for alleged interference from the 100m to the winning post.  After hearing evidence form all parties Stewards upheld the objection.  The amended placings being: King Of Dendy (1), Layout (2), Tahiti Gold (NZ) (3), Multijet(NZ) (4).

D. Waymouth rider of Layout was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, the careless riding being that near the 100m she permitted her mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of King Of Dendy thereby taking that gelding in onto Tahiti Gold (NZ) which resulted in Tahiti Gold (NZ) being hampered and King OF Dendy being severely hampered.  D. Waymouth was suspended from riding in races to commence at midnight 20 December 2008 and to expire at midnight 31 December 2008 (2 Picnic Meetings).

As a result of this interference S. McGovern rider of Tahiti Gold (NZ) was unable to ride his mount out to the end of the race in his normal manner.

During the running of the race Its Apparent suffered a bleeding attack.

Race 5 – alan carmichael memorial open trophy race handicap -          1200 metres:  Near the 500m Catino Belle shifted in away from Agent Frost and struck the running rail.

K. Harris rider of Blackbook which performed below expectation stated that the gelding failed to respond to his riding in the straight and raced like a dour horse looking for more ground.

Race 6 – We wish you a merry xmas trophy race(1) handicap –                   1200 metres:  Flaming Arch and Dover were both slow to begin.

Thru out the race Leica Reason hung in.
