Other Comments / Explanations:

After early morning showers, Stewards downgraded the track rating from a Good (3) to a Dead (4) at 11.20am.

Race 1 – crt rodwells maiden handicap - 1750 metres:

Honours Express jumped away awkwardly. Emdebee was slow to begin. In the early stages of the race, Overindulge had a tendency to overrace.

In the straight, Cassiel had a tendency to lay in under pressure.

Stewards reprimanded Mr J Londregan, rider of fourth placed gelding Honours Express, for unnecessary use of the whip on the horse over the concluding stages of the race. Stewards took into consideration Mr Londregan’s inexperience, and advised him that in future they would expect him to put the whip down and ride his mount to the line hands and heels when his mount is unlikely to be able to further improve its position.

Race 2 – williams hunt maiden handicap - 1200 metres:

Night Action was slow to begin.

Mr M Fitzgerald, rider of Miss Talicod, was reminded of his obligations in respect to use of the whip, once his mount is unlikely to run into the placings.

Race 3 – carey’s paint place trophy race (1) handicap - 1750 metres:

Burramine Legend was slow to begin. After passing the 600 metres, Better Than One shifted in and brushed the running rail.

Approaching the 200 metres, Burramine Legend was briefly tightened for room when racing between Saidin and Better Than One, which both shifted ground.

Race 4 – credit suisse heat 1 vba/crv picnic racing sprinters series - 1100 metres:

Freddflyntstone jumped away awkwardly. Chloe Blue Eyes was slow to begin.

Near the 1000 metres, Freddflyntstone, which was racing greenly, got its head up, shifted out and hampered Chloe Blue Eyes.

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Mr A Bodey, rider of the second placed gelding Uncle Ed, requested to view the photo finish of the race. After viewing the photo finish, Mr Bodey was satisfied with the judge’s placings and correct weight was declared.

Race 5 – the mountain cattlemen’s get together open trophy race handicap - 1750 metres:

Ancient Faeroe was slow to begin.

In the middle stages of the race, Finite shifted in and brushed the running rail on several occasions.

Mr A Bodey, rider of Finite, which after leading was eased down over the concluding stages of the race, stated to Stewards that he believed that the gelding may have respiratory related issues, and that the horse had struggled to remain competitive after passing the 600 metres. A Subsequent veterinary examination of Finite revealed  no abnormalities.

Race 6 – come to cup day trophy race (3) handicap - 1200 metres:

Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Mr A Bodey, rider of the third placed gelding Pemmtar, requested to view the patrol film of the last 200 metres of the race, with a view to lodging an objection. After viewing the footage, Mr Bodey decided not to proceed, and correct weight was declared.

After passing the 200 metres, Pemmtar had to be steadied when Carlton Game (Mr J Londregan) shifted out, and Aunty Ned shifted in slightly. As a result of this incident, Pemmtar was unable to obtain clear running over the concluding stages of the race. Mr J Londregan was severely reprimanded and advised that he must exercise far greater care when shifting ground in future.
