Race 1 – star fm maiden handicap - 1200 metres:Valmarina was slow to begin, then commenced to buck resulting in its rider D Waymouth being dislodged. Trainer M Stephenson was notified that Valmarina was suspended from racing until such time that it performs to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial at which time it must gain a barrier certificate. D Waymouth was examined by the Club’s Doctor and was passed fit to fulfil her remaining engagements.
Hear the 600 metres Showgirl Express was hampered by the riderless Valmarina.
As J Londregan had left the course without permission, Stewards adjourned an inquiry into the reason for Ruby’s Sky having to be eased off the heels of Miss Danewin approaching the 200 metres.
Race 2 – drouin picnic racing club committee members trophy race (1) - 1200 metres: En route to the barrier, Snakie dislodged its rider J Londregan before galloping two laps of the course. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Snakie at 2.28pm.
Rounding the home turn Flights Armada was held up when unable to improve its position. After passing the 200 metres Flights Armada had to change course to obtain clear running. Over the concluding stages Miss Black N Tan had difficulty obtaining a clear run.
On pulling up C Kirkpatrick and S Sutherland were both dislodged. Both riders were examined by the Club’s Doctor and passed fit to fulfil their remaining engagements.
Race 3 – ROYAL HOTEL OPEN TROPHY RACE - 1200 metres:
After passing the 200m Deep Rule had to be eased when disappointed for a run between Paint Me Pink and Golden Mistress (J Fitzgerald) which shifted in slightly. John Fitzgerald was notified that he must ensure there is sufficient room for runners to his inside at all times.
After passing the 800 metres Star Sequence hung out across the heels of Deep Rule, taking Ivor Strategy out off its course.
Bismuth raced wide without cover throughout.
On weighing in Craig Kirkpatrick, rider of Ivor Strategy, stated to the Stewards that the mare did not feel right in its action from the 600m and for this reason he eased Ivor Strategy out of the race. A veterinary examination of Ivor Strategy revealed no abnormalities.
Race 4 – HEAT 1 VBA/CRV PICNIC RACING MIDDLE DISTANCE SERIES - 1600 metres:
No report.
Race 5 – BUNYIP RIDGE FIRE GATE PROCEEDS TROPHY RACE (2) - 1600 metres:
Acting on a report from the starter that El Ganador proved difficult to load, Stewards notified trainer M Moser that he must be in receipt of a current barrier certificate prior to El Ganador racing again.
On arrival at the barrier Strategic Mover was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run.
Turning Yallah was slow to begin. Kyiv Cowboy jumped away awkwardly, shifted out and hampered Caratime.
In the early stages Better Than One was caught wide when taken out off its course by Turning Yallah (P Tait) which shifted out to improve its position. P Tait was notified that she must not take runners out off their course in future.
Race 6 – JC MILTON & CO EQUINE SUPPLIES TROPHY RACE (3) - metres:
A Bolden, trainer of Dis Reply, was severely reprimanded for failing to scratch that gelding by the prescribed time.
The start of the race was delayed as the bit on The Lion King required adjustment at the barrier.
Come The Day raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages
