Other Comments / Explanations:

Due to the extreme conditions all horses prior to and subsequent to each race were examined by the vet in accordance with RVL Heat Policy.

Subsequent to race 2, Stewards conferred with Trainers and Jockeys and made the decision, due to the extreme temperature and with the welfare of horses and personnel in mind, to bring forward the starting times of Races 4, 5 and 6.

Amended starting times for these races were announced – Race 4 to start at 3.20pm, Race 5 to start at 4.00pm and Race 6 to start at 4.40pm.

Race 1 – Bill Wyndam & co maiden handicap-                                                                            1000 metres:

Rose Roulette was slow away and raced wide in the middle and final stages of the race.  When questioned, James Cameron, rider of Rose Roulette, stated to the Stewards that as he was racing at the rear of the field, he elected to race wide due to the amount of dust being generated by the horses in front.

Race 2 – southern cross ten open trophy race -                                                  1000 metres:  Rounding the home turn, Master Nelson shifted in slightly and inconvenienced Uncle Ed before being straightened by its rider.

Race 3 – buchan station cup –                                                                                                             1700 metres:  No report.

Race 4 – kee fencing & sa sproule sawmilling trophy race (3) -                 1700 metres:  No report.

Race 5 – buchan caves hotel trophy race (2) -                                                                        1200 metres:  Red Rolls Royce was slow away.

After passing the winning post Eloquent Miss was pulled up by its jockey, Miss D Walker.  Miss Walker stated to the Stewards that the mare felt sore in front and for this reason she then dismounted.  On advice from the Vet, Eloquent Miss was unsaddled and led back to the Stalls by the Clerk of the Course.  A further veterinary examination revealed the mare to have signs of an old injury, which in the Vet’s opinion was aggravated by the firm track today.  Mr Ian Webb, trainer of Eloquent Miss, was advised he must obtain a veterinary certificate of fitness prior to the mare racing again.

Race 6 – salon classique & john millbourn chimney swee open trophy –  1200 metres:  No report.
