On arrival at the course Truly Flying was inspected by the club’s veterinary surgeon and declared unfit to race. Stewards scratched Truly Flying at 12.27 P.M. Subsequent to the race stewards ordered all monies wagered on Truly Flying to be refunded. All successful bets, prior to the time of withdrawal, to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar, from the face value of the ticket. As a consequence of this incident, Reddy For Kerry, which was following the Jolly Swagman, was hampered on two occasions. Mr. P. Healey, trainer of The Jolly Swagman, was advised that before racing again the gelding must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards in an organised trial.
