Other Comments / Explanations:
Trainers T.Walsh & M.Jackson were both severely reprimanded for there late notification of riders for there respective runners today.
Race 1 – reddop’s foodworks alexandra open trophy race - 1540 metres: Prior to correct weight J Londregan rider of Kenbest (4th place getter) viewed the stewards patrol film as he believed his mount had been denied a fair start. After taking evidence from the Club’s starter B McAdam, J Londregan and G Gascoyne (Trainer), and after viewing the video, it was established that the starting gates of Kenbest’s barrier were slow to open. As stewards believed that this materially prejudiced the chances of Kenbest finishing in the first 3 placings, under the provisions of AR134A they declared that gelding a non runner. The following betting deductions applied Win bets 23cents, Place bets 23 cents, Concession bets 22cents and Quinella’s 45cents.
Race 2 – john larratt’s 70 birthday maiden handicap - 1540 metres: Prior to correct weight D Walker, rider of 4 place getter Avian Prince viewed the stewards patrol film before lodging an objection against Galaxy Knight being declared 3 place getter on the grounds off alleged interference after passing the 400 metres. After taking evidence from all parties concerned, viewing the patrol video and acting on their own observations, stewards dismissed the objection. It was established that after passing the 400 metres Avian Prince had to be eased when tightened for room between Lovefantasy and Galaxy Knight which was taken out slightly by Bank Guaranteed which also shifted out slightly.
Approaching the 200 metres, Galaxy Knight had to be eased off the heels of Encostalot (C Kirkpatrick) which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. C Kirkpatrick was notified that he must ensure he is two lengths clear when shifting ground in future.
Race 3 – fruits of summer cup – heat 4 vba/crv racing sprinters series - 1300 metres: No Report.
Race 4 – yarck hotel trophy race (2) handicap - 1300 metres: Quivira and Bold Bull which were both having their first start for over two years were examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.
Bold Bull was slow to begin.
C. Kirkpatrick rider of Quivira was fined $100 for unnecessary use of the whip on that gelding.
Race 5 – alexandra truck, rod and ute show open trophy race handicap - 1950 metres: No Report.
Race 6 – alexandra fruit and vegetable shop trophy race (2) handicap - 1950 metres: Prior to correct weight M. Fitzgerald rider of 2 placegetter Burramine Legend and K.Harris rider of 3 placegetter Terripple both lodged an objection against First Take (A Bodey) being declared the winner on the grounds of alleged interference from the 200 metres. After considering all the evidence and after viewing the stewards patrol video both objections were upheld. The amended places being Burramine Legend (1) , Terripple (2) and First Take(3).
A. Bodey was subsequently found guilty of a charge of careless riding in that after passing the 200 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Terripple there by tightening that gelding onto Burramine Legend resulting in Burramine Legend being severely hampered and having to be checked and Terripple being severely hampered. A. Bodey was suspended from riding in races for a period to expire midnight the 26 January 2009, a total of 2 picnic race meetings. In arriving at penalty stewards took into account A.Bodey’s good riding record.
On jumping away shifted in and hampered Terripple.
Shortly after straightening Burramine Legend had to shift out to obtain a clear run to the outside of which shifted out slightly.
Approaching the winning post was tightened for room and had to be eased to avoid the heels of Burramine Legend which shifted in away from Terripple which was also shifting in away from First Take.
