After viewing the footage, Mr Bodey decided not to proceed, and Stewards declared correct weight.

Both Belongil and Ivory Sands were slow to begin.

Shortly after jumping away, Ranuca was tightened for room between Barravore Lady, and Step It Up, which shifted out.

Sheeza Mess was obliged to race wide throughout the race.

Passing the 200 metres, Barravore Lady had to change course when disappointed for a run between Belongil, which when commencing to hang in, shifted in, and Sheeza Mess which rolled out slightly.

Belongil hung in from the top of the straight to the winning post.

Race 2 – excelior open trophy race - 1200 metres: Prior to the declaration of correct weight, Mr K Harris, rider of Our Sorsaledo Bay, which was placed second in the race, requested to view the photo finish. After viewing the screen display of the photo, Mr Harris was satisfied that the judge’s placings were correct.

Also prior to correct weight being declared, Mr Kenneth McKay, trainer of Dry Your Tears, asked to view the Steward’s patrol film, as he believed that Dry Your Tears may have been denied a fair start in the race. After viewing the footage, and taking evidence from Mr R McAdam who started the race, Stewards were satisfied that the gelding had not been denied a fair start, and declared Dry Your Tears a runner. Stewards then declared correct weight.

As no other suitable rider was available, Stewards permitted Mr S Wicks to ride Baronial 1 kilogram over its allotted weight.

Dry Your Tears, which was slow to begin, was then hampered by Quantum Physics, which had jumped outwards.

Subsequent to the running of the race, an examination by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon of Hurricane Sal, which had performed below expectations, revealed no abnormalities. Stewards advised Mr Joseph Rahim, trainer of Hurricane Sal, that as the mare had been uncompetitive, she would need to trial to the satisfaction of Stewards prior to racing again.

Race 4 – skilled group yea st patrick’s cup - 1580 metres: At the start, Our Addiction jumped inwards and hampered Edenvale Lady.

Race 5 – thinking printing maiden handicap - 1580 metres: On jumping away, Lord Ensay was tightened for room between Raucous Applause which shifted out, and Ruby Hope which shifted in. Tangible Thomas began awkwardly.

During the early and middle stages of the race, Lord Ensay hung out badly, leaving its rider Ms K Gillahan at a disadvantage. Stewards advised Mr Rob Gillahan, trainer of Lord Ensay, that a warning would be placed on the gelding, and that a repetition would lead to further action being taken.

Running to the 200 metres, Tangible Thomas, which was weakening, had to be steadied to avoid the heels of Burramine Legend ( Mr M Fitzgerald) which shifted out to take a run. Mr Fitzgerald was advised to exercise more care when shifting ground in future.
