Race 1 – banfield trophy race (30) handicap - 1600 metres: Jack Sparrow was slow to begin. Mr. A. Body, rider of Jack Sparrow, could offer no explanation for his horse’s performance today other than that his mount does not perform well at Woolamai. A post race veterinary examination of Jack Sparrow revealed no abnormalities.

Race 2 – the royal mail hotel trophy race (2) HANDICAP- 1000 metres: In the mounting yard Brownies Gold reared over on a number of occasions and could not be mounted. Stewards withdrew Brownies Gold at 1.57 p.m. Mr. David Brown, trainer of Brownies Gold, was advised that a warning was placed on his mare that, should she perform in a similar manner in future action may be taken. Subsequent to the race stewards ordered the following betting deductions: all monies wagered on Brownies Gold to be refunded; all successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal were to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket. Win bets - .13 cents, place bets - .16 cents, double bets - .13 cents.

Sherani was slow to begin. In the straight, Lionel To had a tendency to hang in.

Mr. Warren Stevens, deputising for Mr. Alec Manning, explained to the stewards that Xaarsky’s improved performance today would most likely be attributed to the softer track conditions today and, the mare dropping back from 1200 metres to 1000 metres.

Race 4 – AC METAL FABRICATIONS EPOCH OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 2300 metres: Gottagetaboost jumped away awkwardly. Mr. S. Wicks, rider of the winner Badger’s Retreat, was fined the sum of 50.00 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
