Race 1 – panhandle tex mex eatery & bar trophy race (1) handicap - 2000 metres:

Gottagetaboost was slow to begin. Mr. A. Boyd, rider of Johnny No Cash, could offer no explanation for the horse’s poor performance today. A post race veterinary examination revealed that the horse was sore in both front feet. Mr. A. Taylor, trainer of Johnny No Cash, was advised that before racing again he must be in receipt of a veterinary certificate for the gelding.

Race 2 – phillip Island rsl club maiden handicap - 1000 metres: At the start Gay Invader shifted out and bumped Lord Ensay. Ivajasden jumped awkwardly. In the straight Miss Identity had a tendency to hang in. Mr. K. Harris, rider of fourth place getter Ivajasden, explained that he did not ride his horse out in his usual manner as his mount was laying in over the concluding stages of the race.

Race 3 – the buck stop open trophy race handicap - 1000 metres: Underfoot became restless in the barrier and damaged the boot of rider, Mr. S. Wicks.

Mr. S. Stoll, rider of Govenator, explained that his mount did not respond to his riding in the early stages of the race and from that point on was uncompetitive. Joelene Turner, trainer of the gelding, was advised that before racing again Govenator must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards.

Race 4 – scotts fashions on the field open trophy race handicap - 1500 metres: On returning to scale, Miss L. Andrews (rider of second place getter Captain Cosmic) viewed the videos of the race and decided to lodge an objection against the winner, Ensay, for alleged interference from the top of the straight to the winning post. After taking evidence from all connections, and after viewing both video shots, stewards upheld the objection and amended the placings to Captain Cosmic first, Ensay second and Vadim third. It was established that near the 150 metres Ensay shifted in and hampered Captain Cosmic. Ensay then raced tight to the outside of Captain Cosmic to the line. Mr. B. Wade, rider of Ensay, was reprimanded and advised to take far greater care when shifting ground in future.

Race 5 – coldon homes woolamai cup - 1700 metres: No report.

Race 6 – the oldham family trophy race (1)handicap - 1600 metres: At the start Carefully shifted in and bumped Jack Sparrow. Near the 700 metres, Carefully had to be eased when tightened for room between Irish Pirate (Miss C. Pace) which shifted out slightly and Trappy’s Lad (Mr. P. Koumis) which shifted in slightly. Miss Pace and Mr. Koumis were both advised that in future they should take far greater care when shifting ground.

At the top of the straight Carefully had to change course to the outside to obtain a clear run. Mr. A. Body, rider of Jack Sparrow could offer no explanation for the horse’s poor performance today.  A post race veterinary examination revealed no abnormality.
