Race 1 – KEN REID MEMORIAL OPEN TROPHY RACE HANDICAP - 1700 metres: On arrival at the course Silver Cat, which had been injured in the float en route to the course, was inspected by the club’s veterinary surgeon and passed unfit to run. Stewards withdrew that gelding at 12.35 p.m. Stewards also withdrew Always a Warrior at 12.35 p.m. for non arrival.
Keysie Girl jumped awkwardly and over raced in the early stages of the race.
Race 2 – Thanks woolamai volunteers restricted trohpy race (3) hcp - 1600 metres: Prior to the running of the race Our Lady of Jugah became extremely fractious in the mounting yard, reared over and dislodged rider Mr. A. Boyd. Stewards withdrew Our Lady Jugah at 01.41 p.m. Mr. R. Caldwell, trainer of Our Lady of Jugah, was advised that before racing again the mare must trial to the satisfaction of the stewards in an organised trial. Subsequent to the race, Stewards ordered the following deductions: All monies wagered on Our Lady of Jugah to be refunded. All successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Our Lady of Jugah subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket. Win bets – .12cents, Place bets – .11cents, Double bets .12 cents and Quinella bets - .25 cents.
Shortly after the start, the saddle on Fenaughty Lad slipped forward placing rider Miss Kara Anderson at considerable disadvantage for the remainder of the race.
In the early stages of the race Warne over raced.
Race 3 – TS construction p/l maiden handicap - 1500 metres: Agent Frost was slow to begin. Dolce Vita jumped away awkwardly. Approaching the winning post the first time Whatsnext had to be checked when tightened for room by Fate Marable, which was taken in slightly by Purge (Miss J Maroni). Miss Maroni was severely reprimanded and advised to take far greater care when shifting ground in future.
Near the 600m Whatsnext was tightened for room between Dolce Vita and Dame Melba, which when racing greenly, shifted in.
Near the 300m Whatsnext and Agent Frost checked off the heels of Fate Marable and Dolce Vita when those horses began to weaken quickly.
Race 4 – Oamps insurance open trophy race handicap - 1500 metres: At the start She’s A Blast, Hula Native and Frederick The Dane were tightened for room between Leica Reason, which shifted in, and Tiger Grey, which shifted out.
In the early stages of the race Hula Native over raced. On the home turn Gottagetaboost shifted out and bumped Tiger Grey.
Race 5 – Ducksey wallace memorial restricted trophy race (1) hcp - 1000 metres: As Goldcard Princess refused to be loaded into the barrier stewards withdrew that filly at 3.49 p.m. Subsequent to the race stewards ordered the following betting deductions:
All monies wagered on Goldcard Princess to be refunded.
All successful bets on horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Goldcard Princess subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket. Win bets – .12cents, Place bets – .11cents, Double bets .12 cents and Quinella bets - .25 cents Mr P Koumis,trainer of Goldcard Princess, was advised that before racing again he must obtain a barrier certificate for the filly.
Desert Diva jumped away awkwardly.
Race 6 – Woolamai owners and trainers association open trophy race hcp - 1000 metres: Adele Garaway, Trainer of Esdene’s Sequel, advised the stewards that the rider would attempt to ride the horse from behind today. The horse was unable to be restrained and took up a forward position.
Mr. S. Wicks, rider of Count The Bites, was fined the sum of $50.00 for making a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
