Prior to correct weight Mrs D Waymouth rider of Madalyn’s Folly 4th place getter requested to view the stewards video of the start as she believed she had been denied a fair start. Stewards took evidence from Mrs Waymouth, Mr J O’Meally the Starter and Mr L Bell, Barrier Attendant, who was attending the mare. It was established that when the Starter released the field the Barrier Attendant momentarily had hold of the mare. This resulted in Madalyn’s Folly missing the start by several lengths and as the Stewards believed this materially prejudiced the chances of Madalyn’s Folly finishing third and under the provisions of AR.134A. Stewards deemed the mare had been denied a fair start. Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Madalyn’s Folly at 3.05 pm. Subsequently the stewards' ordered the following deductions to betting. All monies bet for a win and/place and concession betting on Madalyn’s Folly to be refunded. All successful bets on the horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Madalyn’s Folly were subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win bets 19 cents, place bets 20 cents, winning concession bets 18cents and double bets 19cents. All monies bet after the stewards' declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of the ticket.
