Race 1 – brian gibbs maiden handicap - 1000 metres:  The start of this race was delayed due to the club doctor being late to arrive on course.

Gunner Pearl, which was having its first start since October 2006, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to run.

On jumping away, Gunner Pearl knuckled and lost ground. Near the 900 metres, Never No More had to be eased off the heels of Pirate’s Maid.

Approaching the 600 metres, Gunner Pearl threw its head up and raced ungenerously for some distance.

Race 2 – brian willoughby open trophy handicap - 1000 metres: Passing the 100 metres, A. Boyd, rider of Breezy Path, had to stop riding and straighten his mount which shifted in under pressure.

Race 3 – denise o’dwyer open trophy handicap - 2350 metres:  Badger’s Retreat was slow to begin.

Approaching the 200 metres, Whatsnext was tightened for room by Timrice, which shifted in when laying in. Shortly after this, Timrice had to be eased when tightened for room by Cheered, which shifted in under pressure.

Race 4 – densal healesville amateur racing club cup - 1650 metres:  Stewards ordered the withdrawal of Captain Cosmic at 2.30pm subsequent to the horse competing in race two.

On arrival at the barriers, Tillakea was examined by the club’s veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.

Tillakea and Schumpeter were both slow to begin.

Passing the 200 metres on the first occasion, Schumpeter had to be eased off the heels of Tillakea when the pace steadied. Over the concluding stages, Quantum Physics had to be eased off the heels of Purge after shifting in away from Deep Rule.

Race 5 – interchefs trophy (2) handicap - 1650 metres:  Eureka Express, which was having its first start since July 2006, underwent a pre-race veterinary examination and was passed fit to run.

Prior to correct weight, S. McGovern, rider of second placegetter past the post Tidal Spirit, viewed the film and decided not to lodge an objection against Shock Tactics being declared the winner. It was established that Shock Tactics (K Harris), which hung out rounding the home turn, then laid out in the straight when being ridden along, resulting in Tidal Spirit shifting out away from that gelding. K Harris was reprimanded and notified that he must stop riding and straighten his mounts in future.

Tidal Spirit threw its head up when being restrained in the early stages.

When questioned about his riding of Our Lady of Jugah near the 600 metres, G. Brunsdon explained to stewards that the mare commenced to hang out when being ridden along at this point and for this reason Shock Tactics was able to obtain a run to the inside of  Our Lady of Jugah.

Race 6 – yarra valley catering trophy (3) handicap - 1200 metres: Simply Fair Dinkum was slow to begin. Approaching the 1000 metres, Xaarsky, when laying out, had to be checked over the heels of Like Thunder.

Ms S. Waddell, rider of Simply Fair Dinkum, was dislodged from the gelding on pulling up.
