Race 1 – foodworks supermarkets open trophy race - 1650 metres:

On jumping away, Acquolina threw its head in the air and shifted in abruptly, taking no part in the race. After taking evidence from rider S.Wicks and trainer P. Healey, stewards notified Mr Healey that Acquolina was now suspended from racing until such time that it performs to the satisfaction of the Stewards in a barrier trial.

Bonserada had a tendency to over-race in the early stages and, approaching the winning post on the first occasion, had to be eased off the heels of Lycomedes (Ms P. Tait), which shifted in when not sufficiently clear. Ms Tait was reprimanded and notified that she must ensure she is two lengths clear when shifting ground in future.

Race 2 – foodworks liquor maiden handicap - 1650 metres:

After leaving the mounting yard, Our Lady Of Jugah attempted to buck resulting in its rider, A. Boyd, being dislodged. Our Lady Of Jugah then cantered riderless around the course for some time before being recaptured. Acting on veterinary advice, stewards ordered the withdrawal of Our Lady Of Jugah at 1.48pm and subsequently ordered the following betting deductions: all monies bet for a win and place on Our Lady Of Jugah to be refunded; all successful bets on the horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Our Lady Of Jugah to be subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket – win bets 13 cents, place bets 12 cents and  quinella bets 30 cents; all monies bet after the stewards’ declaration of withdrawal to be paid at face value of the ticket. As a result of this incident the start of the race was delayed. Mr Ray Caldwell, trainer of Our Lady Of Jugah, was advised that a warning was to be placed against the mare and should it perform in a similar manner in future, further action may be taken.

Race 3 – best buy (only at foodworks) open trophy race - 1000 metres:

A. Boyd, who was dislodged en route to the barriers in the previous race, was examined by the club doctor and passed fit to ride.

Chelmarne was slow to begin.

Over the concluding stages, Breezy Path and Captain Cosmic (Ms A. Vermay) came together due to Captain Cosmic shifting out. Stewards severely reprimanded Ms Vermay and advised her that she must stop riding and straighten her mount in similar circumstances in future.

Race 4 – foodworks family day maiden handicap - 1000 metres:

Acting on a confirmed telephone call from trainer Neil Robb, who stated to stewards that it was his intention to run dual acceptor Gunnagetit in race six only, stewards ordered the withdrawal of Gunnagetit from race 4 at 11.49am. Mr Robb was severely reprimanded for failing to scratch the gelding by the prescribed time and notified him of his obligations to scratch runners in accordance with the Rules in future.

Stewards placed a warning against Global Harmony for its unruly behaviour en route to the barriers. Stewards advised Mr Vin McConnell, trainer of Global Harmony,  that should it perform in a similar manner in future further action may be taken.

Approaching the 400 metres, Banters Gold had to be checked when tightened for room between Knockfist (J. Fitzgerald) and Ish (S. McGovern), which both shifted ground. As the interference was not attributable to any one rider, no action was taken.

G. Brunsdon, rider of Northland, was found guilty of a charge of careless riding, in that near the 900 metres he permitted his mount to shift in when not sufficiently clear of Moral Return, resulting in that gelding having to be checked. Mr Brunsdon was suspended from riding in races for a period to commence midnight tonight and expire midnight 1 December 2007, a total of two picnic meetings.

Race 5 – parkinson group open trophy race - 1200 metres:

A. Bodey, rider of Yonnie, explained to the stewards that his mount stood flat-footed when the gates opened and never travelled well throughout the race.

Race 6 – leighton trophy race (3) handicap - 1200 metres:

Gunnagetit jumped away awkwardly and then had to be eased off the heels of Move Over Ned.
