Other Comments / Explanations: Woolamai Miss; Captain Cosmic; Turning Yallah and Lycomedes, which all raced at Healesville on 22nd March and, Coolibah Kid, which raced at Colac on 23rd March, were examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run. Adjourned Inquiries: Stewards today concluded an inquiry into the reason for R Douglas weighing in in excess of 1kg over his allotted weight on 26th January 2008 at Balnarring. R Douglas pleaded guilty to a charge under AR.145. and was fined the sum of $100. Race 1 – betstar maiden handicap - 1200 metres: Just Jordie and Ivajasden were slow to begin. Near the 400 metres, Salems Chapel was tightened for room by Jan Bleu which shifted in when hanging in. Tiponelly had a tendency to lay in in the straight. Over the concluding stages, Ivajasden had to be eased to avoid the heels of Just Jordie (S McGovern) which shifted in under pressure. S McGovern was severely reprimanded and notified that he must stop riding and straighten his mounts when in similar circumstances in future. Race 2 – baker & mckenzie trophy race (3) handicap - 1200 metres: Daneluger was slow to begin. Xaarsky laid in the straight. Race 3 – frankston toyota open trophy race handicap - 1200 metres: Celtic Peace, which was having its first start since 23rd September 2005, was examined by the Club’s Veterinary Surgeon and passed fit to run. Coolibah Kid was slow to begin. Ms D Daniel, rider of Celtic Peace which tailed off, stated to the Stewards that the gelding begun well however commenced to give ground from the 800 metres and compounded from the 600 metres. D Daniel added that Celtic Peace did not feel fluent in its action and made an unusual respiratory noise. A veterinary examination of Celtic Peace revealed no apparent abnormalities. Trainer J Pearce was notified that Celtic Peace was now suspended from racing until such time it trials to the satisfaction of the stewards, at which time it must gain a veterinary clearance which include the results of an endoscopic examination. Race 4 – 12 monkeys syndicate cup restricted trophy (2) handicap - 1600 metres: No report. Race 5 – kings creek hotel open trophy race handicap - 2000 metres: Schumpeter was slow to begin. Near the 500 metres Agent Frost was momentarily held up when unable to obtain a clear run.
