Race 1 - crib point football club trophy race (2) HCP – 1600 metres: P. Koumis rider of the second placed ALL POCKETS requested to view the video footage prior to correct weight. P. Koumis lodged a protest against the first placed EYE EYE alleging interference rounding the home turn and in the early stages of the straight. Stewards determined that EYE EYE which shifted outwards rounding the home turn whilst inclined to lay outwards made contact on two occasions with ALL POCKETS which became unbalanced and further was struck by the whip of the rider of EYE EYE (D. Waymouth) on one occasion. Stewards deemed that the interference suffered was not sufficient to reverse the placings and correct weight was declared.
BELONGIL was slow to begin.
Race 2 – rosebud retirement village trophy race (3) hcp - 1600 metres: Prior to the declaration of correct weight A. Boyd rider of the fourth placed DRY YOUR TEARS wished to view the official photo for third. After viewing the photo A. Boyd agreed with the judge’s placings and correct weight was declared.
Rider of DOVER (S Wicks) accidentally dropped his whip near the 300m.
Rider of the third placed DOVER (S Wicks) was severely reprimanded for failing to ride his mount out to the end of the race.
Race 3 – casey’s mad dash for the alter trophy race (1) hcp - 1050 metres: CALL YOU BACK shifted inwards on jumping away forcing DANE LUGER in onto ALWAYS MATILDA which was tightened, having to be steadied.
CALL YOU BACK raced wide without cover in the early and middle stages.
DANE LUGER had to be steadied to avoid the heels of TOY FOX which was inclined to lay outwards rounding the home turn. TOY FOX continued to lay outwards and made contact with CALL YOU BACK near the 300m.
When questioned regarding the seemingly disappointing performance of MARY’S DELIGHT, rider A. Boyd stated that the mare travelled well in the early and middle stages however when placed under pressure prior to straightening failed to respond and he elected to eased the mare down in the straight. A post race Veterinary examination of MARY DELIGHT’S revealed the mare to have a marginally slow post race recovery.
Race 4 – founds betta electrics maiden handicap - 1200 metres: Representative of the Robbie Laing stable Mr T. Logan advised that MANAZAB was showing signs of colic and as a result was not transported to the course. MANAZAB was declared a late withdrawal at 2:15pm by order of the stewards and no alterations to betting were required. Mr Logan was advised that the gelding would require a Veterinary Certificate of Soundness prior to racing again.
ST GALLUS shifted in at the start and made contact with the HUSSONETTA.
HUSSONETTA had a tendency to lay inwards in the straight, with its rider having to stop riding and straightening his mount near the 150m.
