Other Comments / Explanations: Due to an administration error the following horses were omitted from appearing in the race book in races two, four and five those horses being, Stately Charm, Tiponelly, Whatsnext, Mysticson and Our Lady of Jugah.
Race 1 – underground wine makers open trophy race - 1200 metres: Breezy Path which shifted a plate had sustained a foot injury enroute to the course was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and was found to be lame in the near fore leg stewards ordered the withdrawal of Breezy Path at 12:45pm.
Subsequently, Stewards ordered all monies bet for a win and/or place and concession betting on Breezy Path to be refunded. Subsequently the Stewards ordered the following deductions to betting. All monies bet for a win and/place and concession betting on Breezy Path to be refunded. All successful bets on the horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Breezy Path were subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win bets 26 cents, place bets 25 cents, winning concession bets 24 cents and double bets 26 cents.
Ms J Moroni rider of Keysie Girl stated to the stewards that the mare dropped the bit near the 600m and for this reason lost her position, Ms J Moroni further stated that the mare then improved her position passing the 500m but on straightening was wider on the track than she would have liked, Keysie Girl then made good ground from the early part of the straight to the winning post.
Race 2 – fresh feast meats engagement maiden handicap - 1050 metres: After being placed in its barrier Hello Vertigo broke through the front of its stall and cantered for a short distance. Hello Vertigo was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.
Hello Vertigo was slow to begin.
Somebody’s Crying bounded in the air on jumping away and lost ground, Somebody’s Crying then raced greenly throughout the race.
Four Charmers over raced in the early stages.
Approaching the 200 meters Four Charmers shifted in and had to be eased off the heels of Brittansky.
Race 3 – a w m electrical open trophy race - 1050 metres: On jumping away Scold and Baltic Storm come together.
Piscean jumped away awkwardly resulting in rider S Wicks becoming unbalanced.
S Wicks rider of Piscean stated to the stewards that in his opinion the gelding did not appreciate the firmer track conditions today and would be better suited over a longer distance.
K Harris rider of Scold was fined the sum of $100.00 for giving a celebratory gesture prior to the winning post.
Race 4 – molly houlahan memorial trophy race (2) - 1200 metres: Cold Spring Wine which struck the mounting yard gate enroute to the start was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.
After being placed in the barrier stall Cold Spring Wine become fractious, reared and become cast, Cold Spring Wine was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and withdrawn at 3:15pm an veterinary advice. Subsequently the Stewards ordered the following deductions to betting. All monies bet for a win and/place and concession betting on Cold Spring Wine to be refunded. All successful bets on the horses prior to the time of withdrawal of Cold Spring Wine were subject to the following deductions in the dollar from the face value of the ticket: Win bets 19 cents, place bets 20 cents, winning concession bets 18 cents and double bets 19 cents. A Sheehan trainer of Cold Spring Wine was notified that an official warning would be placed on the mare and that she must be in receipt of a barrier test certificate for Cold Spring Wine prior to the mare being permitted to start again.
Whatsnext which was in the adjoining stall to Cold Spring Wine was also examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.
In the early part of the straight Shes A Blast when attempting a narrow run between Order Of Victory and Tilke Of Wales had to be eased off the heels of Tilke Of Wales when that gelding shifted in slightly.
Race 5 – kings creek hotel trophy race (1) - 1200 metres: Acting on a report from the clubs farrier who stated that Black’n’Tan had been presented on course plated unsatisfactorily for racing, stewards ordered that the filly be replated prior to racing D Ferguson trainer of Black’n’Tan explained that his regular farrier had failed to arrive at his property this morning to plate the filly for today’s race meeting and for this reason the filly was presented with the plates in the condition that they were. D Ferguson was reprimanded and notified he must ensure his runners are plated Racing Victoria standards.
Gottagetaboost which reared and lost its footing dislodged rider P Koumis in the mounting yard was examined by the clubs veterinary surgeon and passed fit to run.
On jumping away Gottagetaboost bounded in the air and attempted to buck. M Cid trainer of Gottagetaboost was notified that an official warning would be placed on Gottagetaboost and that the gelding must trial to steward’s satisfaction prior to racing again.
Race 6 – rosebud country club open trophy race - 1600 metres: Burning Ambition jumped away awkwardly.
