Lay Back Lad Takes Out St. Pats Cup
Consistent galloper Lay Back Lad took out the St. Pats Cup this year easily defeating his nearest rival Champion Chestnut by 5 lengths. Jockey Shiralee Waddell followed up on her double at the Healesville meeting the day before to give the Gordon Strang trained 10yo gelding its 2nd picnic cup for the season.

Each year this meeting goes from strength to strength and a large crowd was in attendance to enjoy the days entertainment. If there is ever a meeting to mark on the picnic calendar for a must attend this is one right up there with the best of them. Congratulations to the racing club for their great work and success.

Healesville Summary
The new Healesville betting ring cover helped protect patrons from what turned out to be an ordinary day weather wise when rain set in not long after the beginning of the meeting.

Despite the damp, the racing was good and riding honours went to Adam Bodey who rode a treble and Shiralee Waddell with a double.

With 4 out of the 6 favourites winning and the well backed Youandi saluting in the 5th after being backed from 14/1 into 6/1 punters had the upper hand on the day.
