A Day of Firsts At Alexandra

It was a day of firsts at Alexandra Picnic Races with jockeys Michael Schrapel and Owen Davies both riding their first winner. Owen Davies booted home Rosecoloredglasses and followed it up with a double when he landed the short priced favourite New Land. Michael's winner was the consistent Delta Dane who finally broke through after recent placed runs.

Benjamin Sporle had a first in calling a full picnic racing meeting and a wonderful job he did. I was surprised to learn this up and coming young caller from Bendigo is only 15 years old.

Just Kurrupt Takes Out the Cup

The Woolamai Cup usually attracts a large crowd and this year was no exception. The weather was perfect for racing and the feature race of the day was taken out by the locally trained galloper Just Kurrupt.

The Shea Eden trained 7yo gelding goes extra well at this track having won four of its eight starts. Ridden by Anthony Boyd it won from the fast finishing Maid of the Mist with Sugar Daad third.
