Report for Healesville 15th November 2008
The weather was fine and the crowd was good with lots of people out celebrating early Xmas, bucks and hens parties and any other excuse for a raceday event. Large fields were the order of the day which made for some competitive racing and close finishes. Riding honours once again went to Adam Bodey who rode a treble.
Regarded as one of the "mature age" jockeys, Geoff Brunsdon does not get many opportunities to ride a winner but he sure knows how to celebrate when he does. See Brunsdon's Beauties. In a very well ridden race Geoff led them up, stacked them up and then sprinted away from them on the turn aboard Banned in the last to win. Full report below with audio recordings of the days racing. We return to Woolamai next week for the first time this season, a great picnic racing venue which always attracts good fields. Hope to see you there.
Good luck on the punt,
Peter Bon

Race 1 was an open betting affair and saw the lightly raced 3yo colt Tucker Road at $4-40 ridden by Adam Bodey and and trained by Nancy Butterworth win in good style. Dropping in class to the picnics and going up to 1650m were enough to bring the best out in the colt.
Race two was another open betting affair and Blackbook at $4-20 won its third race on end at the picnics. Ridden by Kane Harris who managed to secure the ride after Shane McGovern was suspended and trained by Jason Ashby, this ex King Island picnic horse is going extra well and got up in a close finish from Tate Modern who was well backed $8-00 into $4-60.
The Jule Crosbie trained Pemmtar at $4-00 won the third event to give Adam Bodey an early riding double. Although going wide on the turn the 5yo gelding ran home well to just hang on and beat Forbidden.
